Kuala Lumpur, Thursday, 1 July 2021 – The Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM), Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) and Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) are urging policy/certificate holders who have done their COVID-19 Test on or before 31 May 2021 to submit their application via the MyCTF website at www.myctf.my by 15 July 2021.

The RM10 Million COVID-19 Test Fund (CTF) was officially closed on 21 May 2021 as announced on the websites of LIAM, PIAM and MTA. However, the insurance and takaful industry has decided to consider appeal for tests conducted on or before 31 May 2021 and the reimbursements are subjected to the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria set for the CTF on a case-to-case basis. The approval of application from policy/certificate holders is at the sole discretion of the CTF and policy/certificate holders will be informed if their appeal is approved by the CTF. The closing date of submission is 15 July 2021 and policy/certificate holders are advised to submit their applications early via the MyCTF website.

The CTF was launched since March last year with a RM8 Million fund. On 11 May this year, the industry has pledged another RM2 Million to reach RM10 Million after taking into consideration of the spike in the daily COVID-19 cases and to encourage more Malaysians to go for the tests. The CTF has to date benefitted over 65,000 policy/certificate holders.

Policy/certificate holders are advised to visit www.myctf.my for more information/details on the application of claims for COVID-19 test or call MyCTF Hotline number at 15500 / 1-300-22-11-88 for further information.

Meanwhile, the insurance and takaful industry has been proactively implementing various initiatives and relief measures to help policy/certificate holders cope with the pandemic financially and physically since the starting of the pandemic in early 2020.

These include the COVID -19 Relief Program on deferral of premiums/contributions for up to three months which has been extended to the end of 2021 for affected policy/certificate holders as well as cash assistance, hospitalization and death benefits for customers who are diagnosed with COVID-19.

From April this year to December 2021, life insurers and family takaful operators have pledged additional fresh funds to assist policy/certificate holders in the form of medical assistance for COVID-19 treatment in Government or Private hospitals as well as serious vaccine side effects under the National Immunisation Programme. Policy/certificate holders are advised to contact their respective insurance company/takaful operator directly to find out more about the assistance offered in the event that they may develop side effects or complications resulting in hospitalization from the COVID-19 vaccination.

For other specific benefits offered by insurers/takaful operators please check directly with your individual insurer/takaful operator for details as benefits vary from company to company.
