Kuala Lumpur, 8 October 2024 – Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) wishes to announce the appointment of Chua Kim Soon (Kim Soon) as the Chief Executive Officer of the Association. He will succeed Julie Lean Gim Chong, effective from 7 October 2024.

PIAM’s Chairman, Ng Kok Kheng and its Board Directors welcome Kim Soon and look forward to working together to advance PIAM’s vision as a dynamic trade association by collaborating closely with stakeholders to support various initiatives within the industry.
Kim Soon is a seasoned professional in the insurance industry, with comprehensive business acumen and versatile leadership skills. His extensive career spanning over 40 years includes successfully managing business units and operations across Singapore, India, and Malaysia. His career highlights include leading greenfield business ventures, executing mergers and acquisitions, and overseeing strategic planning, business transformation, and international operations. His focus on catering to diverse clients and distribution channels in both Life and General Insurance sectors has equipped him with a global perspective and deep understanding of various market dynamics.
Kim Soon is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK) since 1984, reflecting his commitment to professional development and the insurance sector. His pursuit of knowledge is evident in his attendance at key training programs at prestigious institutions like Insead, National University of Singapore and Wharton (Philadelphia).
Kim Soon’s leadership skills have been showcased through his numerous Project Management initiatives. His illustrious career includes roles as Chief Operations Officer at Gibraltar BSN Life Berhad, Head of Agency at ACE Jerneh Insurance Bhd, Chief Executive Officer at AXA Insurance Singapore Pte Ltd, and Chief Operating Officer at Bharti AXA General Insurance Co Ltd (India).
Meanwhile, PIAM’s Board would also like to express its gratitude to Julie Lean Gim Chong, whose tenure of duty ended on 4 October 2024, for her contributions in positioning the Association for continued success in the general insurance industry.
