Kuala Lumpur, 18 August 2023 – Success continues for the General Insurance Internship for Talent (“GIIFT”) program, a program that nurtures young talents and invests in the future of the general insurance industry by shaping the journey of aspiring young professionals. Through this initiative, PIAM has successfully placed a total of 466 interns from various institution for internships since the inception of GIIFT. As seen in the recent intakes in March and June along with the upcoming September intake, the program continues to receive an overwhelming response from talented candidates eager to explore diverse career opportunities within the general insurance industry.

The GIIFT program is organised by Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (“PIAM”), which commenced since 2015, has continued to serve as an awareness enhancing program to raise the profile of the industry with the aim to reach out to the pool of young talents in Malaysia. The primary objective of PIAM for the GIIFT program is to build a pipeline of talent for the General Insurance industry in Malaysia while reshaping the public’s perception on insurance, especially among the younger generation.

Through GIIFT, a variety of captivating career opportunities in the world of General Insurance are showcased by exposing these talents to a 12-week internship placement at our respective member companies. Held in partnership with our esteemed members, the GIIFT program offers interns a unique opportunity to be guided and mentored directly by industry professionals from a total of 23 leading general insurance organisations and reinsurers combined.

Throughout the 12-week internship period, interns will have the chance to work in various departments, ranging from underwriting, claims management, finance, marketing, and many other disciplines across the organisation’s business operations. The program emphasizes on professional growth, hands-on learning experience, and continuous learning to broaden skill sets and deepen understanding of the insurance business, making it more employable in today’s job market.

To further shape the future of younger generations of our nation, PIAM remains steadfast in its dedication to empower future insurance leaders, and prospective candidates are encouraged to watch out for upcoming opportunities as PIAM plans to continue the GIIFT program in the year to come.
