Integrity in Insurance: Whistleblowing with Confidence

Report unethical or unlawful conduct within the Association through our confidential channel. Your identity is protected, and we strictly prohibit retaliation against whistleblowers.


As part of the commitment of Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) to conduct its business activities ethically and professionally, PIAM has developed this Whistleblowing Policy (Policy) to ensure accountability and to promote a culture within PIAM which is consistent with the highest standards of integrity.

Only genuine concerns should be reported under the whistleblowing procedures provided in this Policy. Such report should be made in good faith with a reasonable belief that the information and any allegation in it are substantially true, and the report is not made for personal gain. Malicious and false allegations will be viewed seriously and treated as gross misconduct

Who can disclose?

  1. PIAM employees, including employees on contract, temporary or short-term employees and employees on secondment;
  2. PIAM’s third-party service providers, independent contractors, vendors, and suppliers; or
  3. members of the public.

What can be disclosed?

A disclosure may be made if it relates to any improper conduct by any officer, employee or member of PIAM Board which if proven, constitutes a disciplinary issue or a criminal offence, including but is not limited to the following:

  1. Criminal offences under the law, such as fraud, corruption, forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust, abetting or intending to commit criminal offence;
  2. Acceptance, involvement or solicitation of a bribe, gift or a favor in exchange for direct or indirect personal benefits;
  3. Misappropriation of funds, assets, theft or embezzlement or gross mismanagement; or
  4. Abuse of power.

How to disclose?

Any disclosure of improper conduct pursuant to this Policy is to be made in writing using the Whistleblowing Form with supporting documents into a sealed envelope with the label “To be opened by addressee only” as set out below:

Protection of Whistleblower

Whistleblowers who report in good faith, with reasonable grounds to believe that misconduct has occurred, will be protected from any form of harassment, retaliation, victimization, or adverse consequences.
