General Insurance Industry Mobilises Support for Putra Heights Gas Explosion Victims

Following the devastating gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights on 1 April 2025, the insurance industry swiftly mobilised on-site teams to expedite claims processing for affected residents and businesses. This rapid response provided essential support, ensuring timely compensation for damages to properties, vehicles, and health-related claims.

In addition, efforts focused on clarifying general insurance coverage, emphasising that homeowners and commercial fire policies typically cover explosion-related damages, with compensation based on rebuilding costs. Our members also simplified the claims process to facilitate prompt payouts, with some offering additional support such as financial aid, replacement vehicles, and free home cleanup services for victims.

The Association continued its education efforts to raise awareness among Malaysians about home insurance and vehicle insurance types, coverage, and their importance.
