Kuala Lumpur, 2 July 2020 – At its Annual General Meeting today Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) appointed a 10-member Board of Directors for 2020-2022. In line with the strategic transformation of PIAM this newly established Board will take over the role of the previous Management Committee. It will position the Association to operate more effectively in a liberalised market and take the general insurance industry to the next level.

Mr. Antony Lee, CEO of AIG Malaysia Insurance Berhad was elected as the Chairman of the Board for a two-year term while Mr. Ng Kok Kheng, CEO of Great Eastern General Insurance (Malaysia) Berhad was elected as the Deputy Chairman.

Chairman Mr. Antony Lee said, “These are unprecedented times. The world has been transformed following the COVID-19 Pandemic. Moving forward PIAM as the trade association for general insurance in Malaysia will need to respond with greater speed and agility to the rapidly changing needs and challenges faced by the industry.”

Together with the Chairman and Deputy Chairman, seven CEOs of member companies were elected as Non-Independent Directors namely:-

En. Zakri Mohd Khir (Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad)

Mr. Steve Crouch (Chubb Insurance Malaysia Berhad)

En. Zainudin Ishak (Malaysian Reinsurance Bhd)

En. Noor Muzir bin Mohamed Kassim (Pacific and Orient Insurance Co. Berhad)

Mr. Chris Kurinsky (QBE Insurance (Malaysia) Berhad)

Mr. Kong Shu Yin (RHB Insurance Berhad)

Mr. William Foo (Tune Insurance Malaysia Berhad)

Mr. Jeremy Lee Eng Huat was elected as an Independent Director on the Board. Mr Lee was previously the Director of Consumer and Market Conduct Department at Bank Negara Malaysia. He was also a former Chief Executive Officer of the Ombudsman for Financial Services.
